A relieving letter is issued by a company to an employee who has duly resigned from his said post. The employee can be given his relieving letter only after s/he has duly completed all the pending work assigned and the formalities. It will function as a notification to the employee, that his/her resignation has been expected and is relieved from his current duties. As this is a type of business letter, one has to follow a proper format.

Format for a Relieving Letter
The letter should be issued on the company letter head and signed by the concerned authority. The letter should be addressed as 'To Whomsoever It May Concern', until specified otherwise. The relieving letter should begin by mentioning the employer has accepted the employee's resignation letter. It should mention the post and give credit to the employees contribution to the company. It should mention the date of joining and the date of resignation of the employee. You should end the letter with a sincere thank you and best wishes for the employees future endeavors.
