Information Builders creates new entity

NEW YORK, NY-- Information Builders, a worldwide leading provider of business intelligence solutions, together with Fastwired, an Internet accelerator, today announced that Statswizard.com, a Web-based sports statistical analysis and reporting system, is being established as its own corporate entity.

In addition, Information Builders announced that Bud Bristow, formerly of Gannett News Company, will take the helm of Statswizard.com as its first CEO. To date, Information Builders and Fastwired have invested $1 million in seed capital to launch Statswizard.com.

Statswizard.com delivers interactive information about baseball statistics to sports fans and fantasy league players. The company plans to announce capabilities for football, basketball, hockey, soccer, auto racing and golf by the end of 2000.

"We're thrilled that our enabling technology solutions have the popularity and usefulness to be able to expand into their own viable and sustainable businesses," says Gerry Cohen, CEO of Information
Builders, one of the largest independently owned software companies in the world. "This announcement coincides with a very exciting time for Information Builders - as we explore strategic ways to marry our
strengths with the new business opportunities afforded in the global technology marketplace."

Built on Information Builders' award-winning WebFOCUS platform Statswizard.com currently offers on-demand, up-to-the-minute information about baseball players and teams based upon a wide range of user-selected statistical criteria. Statswizard.com features easy-to-use, customizable statistics, player predictions and reports -- thus creating a more comprehensive virtual sports experience.

"Statswizard.com will continue to develop interactive sports statistical analysis applications to serve the tremendous demand of sports enthusiasts," says Bristow. "Our goal is to power sports-related websites with very sticky content. We're confident that Statswizard will evolve into a standard reporting and analytical
tool across most popular sports."

How it Works

For the game of baseball, general sports enthusiasts, fantasy and rotisserie league members can currently use Statswizard.com to:

* Rank the best and worst players through offensive statistics or any pitching statistic

* Create their own ratio and filter results, selecting those players who meet certain criteria.

* Review ERA or RBI totals across leaguesRun a customized scout report to cherry-pick their very own dream team

* Filter and color-code their results to make the best/worst stand out

In addition to the site's Batter and Pitcher Analyzers, Statswizard.com's Fantasy Assistant allows its users to rank baseball players, by position and league, based on specific profiles. For example, if a member of a fantasy baseball league is preparing his draft, and he wants to find the best relief pitchers for his team,
Statswizard.com allows him to select the top 50 pitchers from both leagues and rank them by lowest ERA. The program also allows its users to run reports that will determine which batters, playing second base, have been caught stealing the most. All the user needs to do is follow the numeric steps to generate a variety of Web-based analytical reports.

The Statswizard.com application originally debuted during the 1999 Major League Baseball playoffs and the World Series as part of USATODAY.com.
