MOTOR SPORTS: Bove Makes His Move

SCCA race car driver Scott Bove talks about his second place finish last weekend.
Up until Texas Motor Speedway on Labor Day weekend a Porsche had not won
a race all year in World Challenge GT . So not only was a win great for the
Marque,
but to be a part of the first Porsche 1-2-3 finish was a great
experience.

The heat had
everyone on edge all weekend, even the drivers meeting was warmer than
usual.

On race day, it was 108 F with track temp of 160 this was leading to a very
difficult race.

"The
record-setting heat lead many teams to suffer from equipment and or
driver related problems
so the opportunity was open for a few well prepared teams to fight it
out at the end," explains team owner/driver Scott Bove of the e-sports.com GT3 Porsche entry.
"After the autograph session
for the fans, I spent the entire time between qualifying and the race
(about 3 hours) just relaxing,
drinking water and sitting in the motorhome with the engineers sorting
out our race set up."

We had
replaced the three radiators in the car #22 the night before the race
in order to maximize the cooling
efficiency. It worked well on race day with maximum temperatures
dropping over 10%. We were ready
to run for the checkered.

After sitting in the hot car (130F) on the grid for what seemed like
hours, we were ready to start
the race. At the start I picked up 6 spots going from 14th to 8th.

After that we slowly moved our
way up towards the front. With three laps to go car #22 is in 4th and
right behind 2nd and 3rd.

While diving in to the chicane at turn #1, Bove takes second place when
he passed two cars right in front of his crew almost as if it was a big "thank you" to the
crew for all their hard work
preparing the car.

After the team celebrated it was off to work packing
up and preparing for the
next race three weeks from now in Atlanta. TV Coverage from the Texas
race is scheduled for Sept 29th at 8:00pm don’t miss it on Speedvision.

The next stop on the Speedvision GT series calendar is at Road Atlanta.
during the Petit Le Mans weekend, Sept. 30-Oct 1.
