Paris Hilton was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence.

Hilton was reportedly pulled over at approximately 12:30 a.m. in Hollywood after police observed her allegedly "driving erratically." Officer I. Isabella said, reading a police statement, "The officers observed that Hilton exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. A field sobriety test was conducted at scene, and the officers determined she was driving under the influence." Hilton was booked at the station on suspicion of a misdemeanor DUI and was released. Hilton adamantly denies the allegations.

Hilton’s rep, Elliot Mintz, confirmed the arrest. He also said police detected the minimum blood-alcohol level to warrant the arrest. In California the legal limit is 0.08 percent. Mintz said, "She’s absolutely fine. She didn’t appear in the least bit to be intoxicated."

Mintz claims that Hilton had spent the day filming a music video for a track off of her album and then attended a charity event where she had one margarita. He claims her "symptoms" were "probably the result of an empty stomach and working all day and being fatigued."

Hilton’s car was reportedly impounded because her passenger, Kimberly Stewart, appeared to be under the influence as well. Officer Martha Garcia, said, "Hilton was released on her own recognizance, which is the normal procedure for most misdemeanor arrests." The not so normal procedure was that Hilton was released after only an hour and a half, an hour and a half less than the standard time required of people charged with DUI. Mintz claims there was no "special treatment." The watch commander at the police station, Lieutenant Russ Wong, said that Hilton was released due to the fact that the paparazzi had descended on the police station and were "clogging the streets outside the station." No word on whether or not Hilton will be charged with a DUI and no court date has been set. Hilton faces three month’s probation, a restricted license and court mandated alcohol treatment.
