Woman Hit By Press Bus on Cameron's India Trip

An elderly woman was left fighting for her life yesterday after being hit by a minibus carrying journalists and Conservative party aides on David Cameron's visit to India's financial capital, Mumbai.

The accident happened on an expressway above the city's flooded streets.

A mob of people descended on the minibus and beat the driver before the police officer with the convoy could intervene.

Mr Cameron and shadow chancellor George Osborne were in separate vehicles. The convoy was returning from a literacy project in a slum. Mr Cameron said later he was "shocked and saddened".
