Creating a Scrapbook For Your Preschooler

Sending your child to preschool is often a very emotional time. You feel like your child is now growing up. Capture those preschool years in a scrapbook.

Children change so quickly from age 2 to age 5. My youngest daughter is 16 now and we still look at her preschool photos. It is so fun to see not only the photos of her, but the photos of her classmates as well.

Choosing a preschool for your child is a huge decision. Once you make the decision, take some photos of the school from the outside. Once your child is enrolled, make a point of coming early a few days to take photos of the classroom before all the children arrive. I always marvel at how the classroom looks at the beginning of the day and how the classroom looks at the end of the day.

The school I sent my daughter to was big on photo taking. Digital cameras did not exist back then, so the school staff always had 3 or 4 sets of photos developed so that parents were given photos of their children while at school.

Be sure to get plenty of photos of the staff at the school. Again, years later it is so much fun to look back at all of these photos.

Often the school has recipes both for food and also for things like playdough. Get those recipes and copy them onto acid free paper to add to your scrapbook.

Does your child have a favorite book, or books? Take photos of the cover of the book. Take photos of the child reading the book and take photos of the book being read to your child.

Does your preschooler have a favorite meal or favorite snack? Write it down and add the recipe to your scrapbook.

Photos of friends take up most of our scrapbook of the preschool days. We still live in the same town my daughter went to preschool in, so she is now in high school with some kids who she went to preschool with. Looking at the preschool photos and looking at the teenagers today is wonderful. We love the "friends photos". People move away so having those photos helps keep the memories of old friends alive.

Preschool is a fun time both for the child and also for mom. Take lots of photos that will help you capture the fun of this stage of life.
