Helping to celebrate the 20-year history of the sport, the International Jet Sports Boating Association has announced extensive coverage plans on it's www.ijsba.com website for the 20th Annual Skat-Trak Watercross World Championships, the world's largest and most prestigious personal watercraft race, which will be held next month, October 7-14, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Produced by Bayfair Presents of San Diego and sanctioned by the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA), over 1,700 entries from 39 U.S. states and nearly 35 nations will converge on the Crazy Horse RV Resort & Campground at Lake Havasu, to compete for individual gold in the internationally-televised 20th Skat-Trak Watercross World Championships.
"We will have the cooperative effort from several areas of the IJSBA staff to chronicle this year's historic Skat-Trak Watercross World Championships," said Mark Denny, IJSBA Managing Director. "In addition to posting real-time starting grids, qualifying heat races and championship motos throughout the event, we will also post a variety of current images as well as LIVE broadcast of the public address dialogue through audio-streaming on our site. Our plan is to provide as complete and up-to-date coverage of the massive event as possible, not only for our many fans across the world, but also for everyone on-site. We will also present images depicting the colorful scene from the pits to performance alley which are all major parts of the Skat-Trak Watercross World Championships."
The IJSBA has also announced that qualifying for Pro Freestyle will be held for the first time. On Saturday, Oct. 13, qualifying will start at 12:30 p.m., and the judged placing order will be used to determine the starting order for the finals on Sunday (Oct. 14). The six Pro racing classes will also have their traditional qualifying on that Saturday as well.
Spotlighting the champions of the domestic, eight-race Skat-Trak Pro Watercross Tour and the defending IJSBA World Champions, the Skat-Trak Watercross World Championships is the premier personal watercraft racing extravaganza in the world. With 34 competition classes and more than $120,000 in prizes and contingencies in the spectacular eight-day event, 15 IJSBA World Champions will be crowned in Pro and Expert divisions along with 19 IJSBA National Champions in Novice and Amateur divisions.
While the United States remains the most dominate country in the championships, increased competition from around the world has produced a number of recent IJSBA World Champions and top finishers.
The seven defending IJSBA World Champions are: France's Nicolas Rius (Pro Runabout 1200-Yamaha), Jeff Jacobs, San Diego (Pro Ski-Yamaha), Morocco's Brice Aracil (Pro Runabout 785-Sea-Doo), Alia Jones, Lake Havasu City, Ariz. (Pro-Am Women Ski-Yamaha), New Zealand's Kelle Skelton (Pro-Am Women Runabout-Sea-Doo), Thailand's Chaovalit Kuacharoon (Pro-Am Sport-Sea-Doo) and Eric Malone, Duncansville, Pa. (Pro Freestyle-Yamaha).
