The quotable Randy Moss

During the football season it seems not a moment can go by without hearing news about Randy Moss. Whether it's Randy angry or Randy quitting or Randy fighting with a teammate, Randy always finds his way into the headlines. Here is Randy Moss in his own words.
During the football season it seems not a moment can go by without hearing news about Randy Moss. Whether it's Randy angry or Randy quitting or Randy fighting with a teammate, Randy always finds his way into the headlines.

This week has been more of the same. First of all, on Sunday, quarterback Daunte Culpepper and Moss had a little spat on the sideline. Moss stated it was no big deal. Enough said. Then on Tuesday, he pulls the big one when he was arrested for backing a traffic cop down the street -- with his car!

All of the talk now is focused on whether the Vikings should dump Moss or whether he can ever get it together. Everyone is missing the big picture.

Randy Moss is quite possibly the most entertaining athlete around, and that's before he even steps on the field. Just listening to him talk is the gift that keeps on giving.

I've compiled a list of some of his greatest hits, and who better to tell the Randy Moss story than Randy himself?

Randy on his early troubles

"Having been an athlete (in high school) and a big star of the state (West Virginia), I think that put an extra eye on me. A lot had to do with me being black and not staying in the state to go to college. I did get myself in trouble, but in all honesty I was given the raw end of the deal. To this day, I still hold a grudge."

Randy on college

"College is boring. It was all about not having fun and going to class once in a while."

Randy on playing hard

"When I want to play, I'll play. There's nobody here on the face of this earth that can make me go out here and play football. I can go out there on the field and suit up and stand on the sideline and play."

Randy on his highest level of play

"My highest level? I don't know. If I want to go out here and play at my highest level, I'll do that."

Do you really mean that?

"That (expletive) is what I said."

Randy on the Super Bowl

"I think that if we would've been getting me the ball early, we would've probably had a Super Bowl ring now. I'm a team player, and I want to do what's right for the team. If they are getting me the ball a lot, and we're winning, then I can stay with that. But if they're getting me the ball, and we're losing, then we've got to find a way to win."

Randy on the Randy Ratio

"Like I said earlier, if we would've been doing this my rookie year, we would have jewelry around here."

Randy on Randy

"Guys wanted to see who Randy Moss is and what he does and how he works. That's just something I wanted to show the other guys."

Randy on whether he worries about what people think

"HAY-ell no. Why should I worry about what people think? I've got everything I need, everything I'll ever need. It's not my fault that people don't know me. Look, I'm going to speak my mind, no matter what the consequences are. The things I do speak might come out different in terms of language, but when I say something, I speak my mind."

Randy on Mike Tice

"Mike Tice got the job because he and Randy Moss can get along."

Randy on control

"Nobody controls me but my mama and God."

Randy on his arrest

"I was really confused about what I was supposed to do. You'll hear about it later."

Randy on his cellmates in jail

"I respected them, they respected me. It was a long night, nerve-racking."

Randy on apologizing

"Apologize for what?"

Any Regrets Randy?

"Hell, no, because I still play when I want to play. I do what I want, homey."

Well said, Randy. Well said.
