Here we go again
It's not like Michael Jordan needs to comeback to the game, it just that he shouldn't comeback. It's bad for the NBA as a whole.
Well, what a surprise. Michael Jordan is in the National Basketball Association once again. Oh boy, I can't wait.
It is probably hard to see the sarcasm here, but I, for one, wish Jordan would do us all a favor and stay retired like he said he would. Nonetheless, he lied once again. Just like when he was "retired" after the 1993 season, but we all knew it was a matter of time before he would don an NBA uniform again.
This time, however, we weren't as sure that he was coming back to play. As part owner of the Washington Wizards, president of basketball operations, multi-millionaire, he seemed to have everything one person could ask for. Then came the comeback talk.
The day he took over with the Wizards, every media outlet was asking if he was going to comeback and every time he said "No," knowing full well that he wasn't done. It was always in the back of his mind. He just hid it very well for some time.
The NBA players have got to be hurt by this news. We go from the even playing field NBA, back to the Michael Jordan NBA. The NBA will go back to favor Jordan and he will get all the calls that a normal player would not get (even more than Shaquille O'Neal).
Remember Jordan's last shot, he made it. Most people STILL remember the fact that Jordan totally shoved Utah Jazz player Byron Russell out of the way to make that shot. Three years later, we're still getting our whistles out for that one every time the clip plays. Still, making the shot to win the NBA Finals would have been the perfect way to end a career. Even though it shouldn't have counted.
It's nice that Jordan will donate his whole year's salary to the relief effort of the September 11th tragedies, but you know what that salary is: one million dollars. We're not talking about an average NBA player, we're talking Michael Jordan. What's the matter, Mike? Couldn't spare anymore of those millions and millions of dollars you have?
Now as far as how the Wizards will do, they will be better. But please, don't put them in the playoffs just yet. These are the Wizards. Last time I checked they were 19-62 last year and didn't acquire anyone to improve that.
Jordan alone won't do anything for them, or at least it shouldn't. Of course, we are back in the Jordan NBA now, so anything can happen and probably will.
I'd say they win 25, but everyone else says 30-35...even the NBA.
