Renee Zellweger’s Fraud Charge

Actress Renee Zellweger backtracks after citing fraud as the reason she is seeking an annulment from Kenny Chesney.

Late last week Renee Zellweger filed for an annulment after only four months of marriage to Kenny Chesney. Ok, so that isn’t the shocking part since we pretty much saw that coming. What is so shocking is that instead of the usual routine Hollywood reason to end a marriage – irreconcilable differences – Zellweger chose to state "fraud" as the reason for seeking an annulment. Of course as soon as that was released the rags went crazy wondering what the "fraud" was.

In a statement Friday, Zellweger said, "I would personally be very grateful for your support in refraining from drawing derogatory, hurtful, sensationalized or untrue conclusions. We hope to experience this transition as privately as possible." She began to backtrack after the media explosion and tried to clarify what she meant by "fraud" and said it is just "legal language and not a reflection of Kenny’s character." A spokesperson for the couple said the split was the result of "the miscommunication of the objective of their marriage from the start."

Raoul Felder, a top celebrity divorce lawyer, seems to think the term "fraud" could have something to do with the couple’s views on having children. It is quite possible that Zellweger wanted to have children and upon finding out that Chesney did not want to have kids she felt the only option would be to annul the marriage. Of course most normal people hash these issues out before saying, "I do." The troubles reportedly started right after the honeymoon ended. Just last month Zellweger slammed reports that there was trouble in paradise. Zellweger’s publicist Nanci Ryder said at the time that their relationship was "great," a sure sign of demise in Hollywood.
