H&M Drops Supermodel Kate Moss
Supermodel Kate Moss has lost out on a lucrative deal modeling clothing for the Swedish-based company H&M over her drug use.
Kate Moss was recently caught on film snorting cocaine during a recent recording session for her on-again-off-again boyfriend Pete Doherty’s band. The pictures were published in a London tabloid that claimed that the images were taken only two weeks ago. Moss had recently signed a contract to model one of the new lines of clothing designed by Stella McCartney for the Hennes & Mauritz clothing chain and after the images were released she admitted to H&M that the allegations were true. Originally, H&M decided to keep the supermodel on after she agreed to sign a written agreement in accordance with stating that she would remain "healthy, wholesome, and sound."
Now it has been reported that H&M has decided that Moss is not "compatible with H&M’s clear rejection of drugs." On Tuesday a statement was released by the company stating, "H&M has decided to cancel the advertising campaign with model Kate Moss. H&M distances itself strongly from drugs and for several years has been actively engaged in drug prevention work with the Mentor Foundation." It was just reported that Chanel will not renew Moss’ contract when it expires next month and that Burberry canceled a planned campaign with the model. A further blow to Moss is that it was just announced that the Metropolitan Police were investigating the allegations.
Only two months ago, Moss accepted a settlement and an apology from London’s Daily Mirror after they printed a story that alleged she had collapsed in a "cocaine-fueled" coma in Spain in 2001. Incidentally, the Daily Mirror is the tabloid that released the images last week of Moss snorting cocaine. Reportedly, Moss has yet again broken up with Doherty and is currently looking into a treatment facility. In 1998, she checked herself into a rehabilitation center citing "exhaustion" but later admitted that she was having troubles with drugs and alcohol.
