Angelina Jolie now Voight-less

The relationship between Angelina Jolie and father, Jon Voight, has become so strained that she has chosen not to keep his last name. She will now be legally known by her stage name. She initially requested a name change in July. About a month later Voight appeared on E! News Live and made a tearful plea for help for his daughter. He claimed she had "serious emotional problems" and said he hadn’t seen his daughter in months. He did not publicize exactly what her problems were.

Voight and Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, split when Jolie and her brother were kids. Since that time there was a rift in the family. A brief reconciliation between father and daughter occurred during the filming of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider but was short-lived. Jolie has admitted in the past to cutting herself with a knife. She also said that she almost had a breakdown the night before she married Billy Bob Thornton. Jolie and Thornton have also admitted to wearing vials of each other’s blood around their necks. A nice gesture to be sure, but how weird can you get?

Jolie has been through some rough times as of late. Recently estranged from Thornton, she pushed on and split from her father as well. Quite a couple of months for someone who has been notoriously unstable in both her public and private life. It seems the only man in her life right now is adopted son, Maddox, whom she adopted with Thornton pre-split. Jolie is now seeking full custody of her adopted son. Hopefully we won’t see Maddox wearing vials of anyone’s blood anytime soon…
