Mariah Carey Relapses

Less than a month after her release from Silver Hill, a sanitarium in Connecticut, Mariah Carey relapses and enters the UCLA Medical Center.
Mariah Carey seemed bound for recovery after spending two weeks in July in a sanitarium after suffering what her spokeswoman dubbed a "complete emotional and physical breakdown." Carey spent time recuperating at her mother’s house in New York, spending time in Puerto Rico and at a Santa Barbara spa, Bacara. It seems that her recovery was short lived after she recently checked into the UCLA Medical Center on September 4th. Pressures from the upcoming release of her movie, Glitter, and the accompanying album as well as a bitter feud with rival Jennifer Lopez seemed to push Carey over the edge.

According to US Weekly, Carey is convinced that Lopez is being groomed by Carey’s ex- Tommy Mottola, to replace her as the queen of pop. She believes that Lopez’s style is reminiscent of her own and that music was "stolen" from her single, Loverboy, to be used on Lopez’s, I’m Real. She is so convinced there is a "smear campaign" going on from Mottola’s camp that she has hired investigator Jack Palladino to look into the matter. Palladino is quoted as saying, "Tommy is attempting to control her career, her future, and her life."

Is Tommy Mottola so bitter about their 1997 divorce that he is trying to ruin her career or is Mariah Carey losing her grip on reality? Hopefully, neither. Carey is expected to remain in the hospital for two weeks and has been advised to rest upon her release. Maybe then the popular singer/actress will be steady and ready to return to the spotlight and the public eye.
