Death In A Setting Sun

She dies the second the sun shuts off…
As the light fades from her eyes
Her blood leaks on my lap
I found her like this
Monday night
As the last colors of the day
Fade into the ground
The flashes of the sun
I want to call help
I want to run down the road
And scream
Someone save her
But when I went to leave
She gasped and grabbed my hand
I laid her head on my lap
Where she now was
The blood staining my pants
The sun turns off
Like my sob was a switch
As darkness settles around
Darkness consumes her eyes
No more light
No more life
She died between time
A death in a setting sun
