A side-effect not established
The blindness linked with reported cases of ED drugs users has sent out a word of caution and nothing more

There has been some sort of warnings among the erectile dysfunction concerned community – be they users, doctors, researchers, medicos and just anybody and everybody. For the news as FDA has reported is that it has received information on a number of cases of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), a type of blindness. Blindness is reported to have been found among men who had been on impotence drugs.

The FDA has received 43 such reports on the cases of blindness. It has pointed out, at the same time, that a link between the reported cases of blindness and intake of ED drugs has not been established as yet. Besides NAION is a rare condition.

The mere report is enough to send alarm atleast among the users, although the fact of the matter is that the said condition of the eye is a rare phenomenon.

But this is enough to call on FDA to have in place a warning on the pack of the ED drugs to that effect.

Says Jose Hahn, a user of Levitra, "I think the word of caution is a good thing and even if one in 100,000 goes blind on consuming an ED tablet, that should not cause much alarm." There could be some special reasons for the blindness which cannot be determined so easily, goes the argument.

But then some would just pooh pooh the report on blindness as Yasan Howe, "Come on buddy I am on levitra for months together….and I have found my eyes shining even more after that contented session in the bed’.

Yet others would just discontinue, discuss and debate, would investigate the matter before they buy Levitra next time, like Tony Cass, who is circumspect when he shares his view on the issue – "I think any report on the safety of a medicine needs to be taken seriously, for there is no element of naturality about any medicine; it has to be looked into and best inputs be got."

Good advice, Tony. Thanks.
