Daniel Smith in the Bahamas visiting his mother whom had just given birth to his half-sister two days before. The next day he was reportedly found sitting in a chair in Smith's hospital room and appeared to be sleeping. When Smith was unable to wake her son she "sounded the alarm" and he was pronounced dead. Initial reports said that "antidepressants" and "unnamed drugs" were found in the boy's system leading to a heart attack. Later it was reported that the cause of death was "definitely not a heart attack."

Earlier this week it was announced by Her Majesty's Coroner Linda P. Virgill that Daniel's death was due to "unnatural causes" but she refused to discuss the matter any further until after his toxicology reports came in, probably by the end of the week.

As for Smith, she is reportedly "devastated" and sources say she is unable to discuss it. TrimpSpa CEO Alex Goen was a guest on Lary King Live Tuesday and said he had been in contact with Smith. He said the two had spoken about an hour and he could "only understand about five minutes of what she was saying." Goen said Smith was "very, very emotional." He said, "She broke down many times. And the few times she was coherent was when she talked about her baby girl and she brightened up for a moment there but very quickly started thinking about Daniel and broke down immediately afterwards." Smith has reportedly been cleared by her obstetrician to travel back to the States if she desires and it was reported she has tentative plans to leave the island late this week.
