Anna Nicole Smith Has Daughter, Loses Son

It has been reported that Daniel Wayne Smith was visiting his mother in the hospital where she gave birth to her daughter when he collapsed and died. Reginald Ferguson, assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamian Police Force, said Daniel was found in his mother’s room at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Said Ferguson, "He was found in a condition of non-responsiveness. I am not certain who made the alarm, and doctors were called in but he was pronounced dead." He continued, "There were no signs of violence to the body and there has been no sign of any unusual activities in the room that he was in."

It has been rumored that Daniel suffered a heart attack, but Ferguson reportedly said, "We have no information about a heart attack at this time." An autopsy was performed Monday to determine what the cause of death was. A statement was posted on Smith’s web site that confirmed her son’s death and also said, "We have yet to learn the cause of death, but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace."

Daniel was the only son from Smith’s first marriage to Billy Smith. The two met when they worked together at Jim’s Krispy Fried Chicken in their hometown of Mexia, Texas and were married in 1985. The couple divorced in 1987 and it was reported that Billy Smith had not seen his son Daniel since he was two and hasn’t spoken to Anna Nicole in 10 years. Anna Nicole has not named who the father of her daughter is, but it has been rumored that it is Larry Birkhead, a photographer she reportedly dated last summer.
