Marriage Troubles for Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe

Recent reports have suggested that Hollywood golden couple Reese Witherspoon and hubby Ryan Phillippe may be floundering.
Sources say that the couple, who were married in 1999, are having problems and a source of the problems could be Phillippe’s moodiness. Other reports have said that he may be feeling jealous of his wife’s skyrocketing career. Her asking price has jumped from $1 million for Legally Blonde to $5 million for Sweet Home Alabama and she will be paid $15 million to star in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. What’s Ryan done lately?

The couple met in 1997 at Witherspoon’s 21st birthday and she has said they were inseparable after that night. They co-starred in 1999’s Cruel Intentions, married that same year and had a daughter – Ava Elizabeth. Maybe the cruel competition in the household has caused tension and has led the couple to seek professional help. Reports say that Witherspoon and Phillippe are both seeing "shrinks" to try and keep their marriage together.

Phillippe was quoted as saying, "It’s tough to be young and it’s tough to be married." He has also admitted to suffering from depression and reportedly has claimed that therapy has helped him learn how to deal with it. With all the 15-minute marriages in Hollywood, this young couple seemed like they had it all together. Maybe the strain of being in the spotlight is just too much for some. Maybe the rumors are untrue. Time will tell if they can prove everyone wrong by making it in a town that wreaks havoc on a marriage or if they will succumb to the pressures of Hollywood.
