Only in Mexico
Mexican culture is mainly dependent on having a strong family bond, religion, and tradition. Their culture is one of the most interesting cultures in the world that can be a good subject to research papers because of its rich history.
It’s hard to search for the real paradise. While others fascinate us with natural landscapes and breathtaking sceneries, only a few can truly make you feel at home. For most travelers, they pick out Mexico because of it's exquisite beauty and the things that make it Mexico. One of the unique things that you can only find here is the country’s national pride, charreada. Charreada is Mexico’s national sport which has developed long time ago during the time of hacienda system existence. As the system faded away, the people noticed the imporatance of the sport to be preserved, so they held a meeting and started the Asociación Nacional de Charros. Until now, the sport remained as one of the favorites of most Mexicans.
During my last visit in Mexico, I was so fortunate to witness the competition which was held in an arena. My friend who is so obsessed with charreada joined in the event however, he lost to the eventual winner. While watching that exciting competition, I told myself that I also want to give it a try. But, when I saw one guy falling from his horse, I immediately told myself that there were other sports which are not as physical as charreada.
Even if this sport is very famous in Mexico, winners do not expect big amount of money to be given away because it is widely known that it is the least thing to happen. Charreada winners usually take home horse trailers or saddles and of course, the pride of being the champion.
Aside from charradea, Mexico is also famous for Taco Salad. Taco Salad is a very delicious and refreshing recipe that everyone should learn and experience. Last week, Jake and his family, our Mexican friends, surprised everyone in the family when they just knocked on our door. It was really a nice experience to see them after a long time. It has been five long years since the whole family left for Mexico and eventually settled there. Along with their stories on their experiences, they also brought lots of foods which they have learned in Mexico.
While the children were enjoying playing computer games, my wife and Jake’s wife were busy in the kitchen. It turned out that they were preparing the delicious and refreshing Taco Salad that Jake’s wife has acquired from their Mexican friends. When we tasted it, I was so surprised to find out that it tastes better compared to other commercial salads. I could not resist begging them to cook more of that delicious and yummy recipe that I would definitely miss when Jake and his family leave.
Well, it’s not only me who liked the food because even the children liked it so much. Maybe that’s the reason my wife asked for the directions on how to prepare that yummy Taco Salad.
