The Anna Nicole Show Premiers

The Anna Nicole Show premiered Sunday night proving that reality TV has sunk to a new low.
Anna Nicole Smith has proven that she is as dense as the world thought. With the premier of her new show, The Anna Nicole Show¸ she has shown America what she really is…a big fat overbearing flake. The show, which premiered on E! August 4 at 10 p.m., was marketed as "a candid and compelling look at the life and spectacle" of Anna Nicole Smith. Spectacle is right. The show proved to be incredibly sad. The "star" claimed that the depression over the loss of her husband, oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, and the anguish over the long drawn out legal battle over his fortune that ended with her being awarded the ridiculous amount of $88 million, caused her to hide away. She claims that she spent her days laying in bed and "getting fat."

Well, she has apparently gotten over her agoraphobia, (thank heavens) to enlighten the world with a show about her life. She said in a statement, "People won’t be able to stop watching once they tune in. My life is a roller coaster, so hold on and enjoy the ride!" More like a train wreck. In the debut episode, she wavered between child-like and seductive. The buxom bleached blonde appeared to be heavily under the influence…of what? Who knows, but it was - at times - hard to understand her incoherent mumblings. She acted like a petulant child and went from giddy to angry to weepy. Her son, Daniel, is the only one that seemed normal, even the dog – Sugar Pie – is on Prozac.

The other two "stars of the show" hangers-on lawyer Howard K. Stern and purple haired assistant Kim, seemed to coddle the larger than life Smith. Smith, who claims to not have had sex in two years, has repeatedly denied any type of intimate involvement with Kim. All in all, the show proved that fame and money cannot buy happiness or class. It was a sad display of one’s life being served up as water cooler fodder and one can only wonder what is really going on inside of Smith’s head…if anything.
