Wet Suits in the Galapagos Tropics: Viva Snorkeling!
Our guests are truly delighted with an activity that can really turn into a realm of great encounters: the marine world of the Galápagos. The majority of past documentaries mention the many highlights of the islands, but all include a vast number of land features. Few devote time to the marine environment. However, in the past ten years, and more so since the declaration by UNESCO of the Galápagos Marine Reserve as a World Natural Heritage Site, the marine resources are gradually subscribing more devotees.

All marine-related activities have now taken a very important space in the human development, tour operators, and regional conservation. Throughout the year, snorkeling is one of our regular programs. We must remember that during the Dry Season, local climate conditions are not totally tropical.

Therefore, in these months snorkeling remains as one of our regular programs. We want our guests to be fully prepared to stay in the water for longer periods of time, and that this experience generates higher satisfaction standards.

A wet suit in the Dry Season allows anyone to feel comfortable, while enjoying this subtropical temperate paradise. Of course, we can still snorkel without a wet suit, but those additional minutes of added comfort in the water can really be crucial when it comes to marine encounters.

What if in those moments of feeling cold you miss the sea lions, or tropical fish, penguins, and even sharks? Wouldn’t you regret not having a wet suit with you? With this simple aid we are ready to discover more of the ocean. And, of course, we are ready to say Viva Snorkeling!

Basic advice regarding the use of wet suits in Galápagos:
• When to bring one: Dry Season (June to December)
• What kind: Shortie wet suit or full body wet suit
• How thick should it be: Max. 1/8 of an inch – 3 mm
• How much does one cost: USD $100 – USD $150 (you can even find items on sale at selected outdoor sports outfitter stores or dive shops for even
less!)
• Water temperature in Galápagos during the Dry Season: 18°C – 23°C (67°F – 74°F)
