Fishes of the Galápagos Islands & How to identify them

Galapagos Islands marine reserve has increased her inherit value for diving and snorkelling lvoers, providing one of the top ten scuba diving experiences in the world ...
In Galapagos Islands, three months showns spectacular changes and natural events: December, January and February. Since snorkeling is one of the most rewarding activities in the Marine Reserve, the warm waters enhance the amount of detailed observation that happens in our marine realm.

Aboard ship we have an excellent selection of fish books that will allow our guests, of course, with the assistance of our Expedition Staff, to fully identify the underwater highlights we daily see. Light changes underwater and not all colors are truly correct (to our human vision at least), so a field guide book or ID charts become handy for knowing exactly what we have seen.

What is so interesting about the fishes of the Galapagos Islands is that regardless the time of the year, extreme examples can be witnessed. In the hot season, it is rather strange to find a cool-water species, and in the dry season, it is rather strange to find a warm-water species.

These extremes is what marvels any nature traveler. Galápagos extremes are seen everywhere, and these make the islands’ environment a unique place on Earth to visit. Best fishes to you.
