Landis Calls in the Lawyers

Tour de France: Floyd Landis has hired the services of Californian lawyer Howard Jacobs to help clear his name of doping charges.
The Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has hired the Californian lawyer Howard Jacobs to assist him in a possible defence against doping charges after an initial positive test for testosterone after stage 17 of this year's race.

Jacobs has defended other athletes accused of doping such as Tim Montgomery and Landis's former team-mate Tyler Hamilton. The lawyer attacked cycling's governing body, the International Cycling Union, for leaking the initial test result.

Tests began yesterday on Landis's B sample and are expected to be completed tomorrow. If the second sample result matches the first Landis faces a two-year ban and the loss of his title.
