It’s becoming an all-too-familiar scene for young professional athletes. For the second time in as many years, police officers gave Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam Jones a chauffeured ride to the local slammer.

Jones was allegedly seen by officers outside a nightclub yelling at a female acquaintance whom he accused of stealing his wallet, the Associated Press reported.

The incident comes only a day after the end of the Titan’s training camp and just prior to Jones playing against his hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons. today.

The official police report lists Jones as being observed arguing loudly with a female outside a venue where a rap concert had just let out and that he was angry and belligerent. His eyes were bloodshot, the report stated, and he was slurring his speech and reeked of alcohol. Officers said they ordered Jones to leave the area several times but that he just kept on until police felt that he had become quarrelsome.

Jones was the first defensive player to be picked in the NFL draft, going 6th overall after his college days at the University of West Virginia.

His coach was disappointed in his actions and suspended him from play against Atlanta.

"I am going sit him out of this game on principle and not because I believe he is guilty in this case based on what I believe the facts are at this time," coach Jeff Fisher said in a statement released Friday. "Last January I let the team know that they would be held to a higher standard and this does not meet that standard."

The woman Jones accused of taking his wallet, Shakkiah Curtis, said that Jones’ wallet had been taken, along with her purse, by other patrons at the club. During his arrest, Jones informed the officers of his missing wallet but refused to sign an incident report that included the claim he lost $750 during his time at the club.

One of the patrons, Toya Garth, filed a complaint with police stating that Jones had accused her of taking his wallet and physically spit on her. She returned the insult and did not immediately press charges, the AP reported.

"This was not a big issue, he just turned it into one," Murfreesboro Police Lt. Alvin Baird told the Associated Press. "It is not unusual to come across a person who'd had too much to drink at a bar, and you just say, 'If someone can take you home, then go home.'

"He had every opportunity to leave. Nobody would have even known about this incident if he would've just gone home. But when people are drinking, they don't always make the best decisions. … He put us in a place where we had to do something."
