CT100 and SSL
This article explains how the CT100 and SSL work together for network security.
CT100 or CertainT 100 by Radware (www.radware.com) is an application accelerator for network based applications. The ct100 is designed for any business that relies on secure web transactions both ingoing and outgoing. The current standard for secure web transmissions is Secure Socket Layer or SSL.
What is SSL?
SSL is a program layer that lies between the Internet’s Hypertext Transfer Protocol
(HTTP) and the (TCP) layers. The "sockets" part of the term refers to the sockets method of passing data back and forth between a client and a server program in a network or between program layers in the same computer. SSL has two main benefits, the first is that it allows authentication between servers and clients. This means that the server and client can be sure that they are talking to each other and nobody else is using the open port to sneak in and attack. The second major benefit is that it guarantees privacy and security so that no third party can eavesdrop or interfere.
Why is SSL dangerous?
SSL is dangerous because attackers can mask themselves as legitimate clients they can exploit SSL as direct connection to the server, thereby bypassing normal security protocols. Recently, a Swedish hacker demonstrated the ability to launch SSL based attacks quickly and easily by breaking into three of Sweden’s largest banks using SSL based attacks. This could have been avoided by using a as part of their banking networks.

The CT100 provides a feature call SSL sniffing which allows it to monitor the SSL layer for attacks and viruses. The CT100 also manages all SSL web traffic there by freeing up the servers and valuable network resources. The CT100 also allows for SSL visibility so that transactions can be viewed without disrupting a secure SSL connection.
