General: A little more cliche goes a long way!

I decided the time was right to return to one of my favorites... sports quotes!
I decided the time was right to return to one of my all-time personal favorites.

Sports quotes!

All of the following were actual quotes taken from the August 25th broadcasts of the Denver Broncos vs. the Indianapolis Colts and the IAAF World Track and Field Championships from Paris, France.

To make it more challenging, I present the quotes to you in the exact order they went out over the airwaves.

None of the quotes have been altered to protect the inane!

I'll be "quick out of the gates" as I try to "come back from injury."

I'm sure this race will be "neck and neck" as we "go down to the wire." You're telling yourself "if he's going to do it anyplace, this is the place!"

By now you've figured out that "tonight is a big night" for me.

The competition? "They got killed."

I know I "bring great credentials," but I have to remember that I have "two huge hours ahead."

Already I can feel "a buzz of anticipation" from the crowd.

I hope I set a "personal best."

Maybe they'll crown me "the world's fastest man!" (The people who know me will be temped to insert their own jokes here!)

If nothing else "it's all up for grabs," but I remind myself that "the start is all important." (For some reason I forget about the finish.)

I come "flying out of the blocks" with my "game face" on.

I am "a little bit tight," but I'm "really hustling on the play" as I "come over to save the day."

The guy I beat is "upset with himself," but hey, "those are the things that are going to happen early on." He's really been "under the gun" to perform.

"A hush falls over the stadium" and it's "anyone's final."

I have to ensure that there's "no wasted energy" and "pull out all the stops."

We're "really battling," but wow, what a "good open field tackle" by the security guard on that interloper!

"I just try to be mentally strong," but as my mind wanders to the competition I ask myself, "Can he overcome injury?"

I refocus with the thought that I have to "just go in there and do what I know I can do." You'd think, "By now that should be automatic."

Remember, "live by the blitz, die by the blitz!"

(What?)

You "can't let the pressure get to you!"

You "have to be mentally focused!"

"You don't have to force things!"

"He'll be coming strong at the finish!"

I "dug in deep and came through!"

"Hi Mom!"
