A source close to the couple reportedly said they "are on the rocks and virtually living separate lives." Allegedly Springsteen and Scialfa have secretly separated due to a budding relationship the singer has developed with a September 11 widow. He reportedly met the woman, a redhead like Scialfa, when he organized the September 11 telethon, America: A Tribute to Heroes. Said a source, "They’re separated, but everyone has been sworn to secrecy. We’re not supposed to talk about it."

Another source calls Springsteen a "big flirt" and said there’s "nothing going on." As for Springsteen and Scialfa’s relationship a source said, "Bruce and Patti are very much partners. They go at it a lot and fight, but they also work at it a lot. Patti is a strong woman. They are not going anywhere." There has been no comment from Springsteen’s camp and Scialfa’s mother said, "I don’t know anything about it. I don’t want to talk about it."

Springsteen and Scialfa reportedly started dating while he was still married to his first wife, Julianne Phillips. Scialfa was a member of the E Street Band and the two reportedly just hit it off. He was divorced from Phillips in 1989. Scialfa gave birth to the couple’s first child, Evan, in 1990. Springsteen and Scialfa tied the knot in 1991, the same year they welcomed child number two, Jessica. They had their last child, Sam, in 1994. Springsteen, Scialfa, and their three children enjoyed a family vacation in upstate New York last month. Since then, Springsteen has allegedly moved out of the family home and is secretly romancing the mystery woman.
