Galileo Galilei : "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forego their use."

Papal: "His Holiness decreed that the said Galileo is to be interrogated with regard to his intention, even with the threat of torture. And, if he sustains [ie. answers satisfactorily], he is to renounce a vehement suspicion of heresy in a plenary assembly of the Congregation of the Holy Office, then is to be condemned to imprisonment as the Holy Congregation thinks best. And ordered not to treat furthers, in any way at all, either verbally or in writing, of the mobility of the earth and the stability of the sun; otherwise he will incur the penalties for relapse.

The book entitled Dialogo de Galileo Galilei is to be prohibited. So that these things may be known by all, he ordered that copies of the sentence be sent to all Apostolic Nuncios, to all Inquisitors against heretical pravity, and especially the Inquisitor in Florence. He shall read publicly the sentence in the presence of as many as possible of those who profess the mathematical art." - (Entered into the record of the Holy Office, 1633)

Verdict from Galileo : I, Galileo, son of the late Vincenzo Galilei of Florence, being 70 years old... swear that I have always believed, believe now and, with God's help, will in the future believe all that the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church doth hold, preach and teach. But since, after having been admonished by this Holy Office entirely to abandon the false opinion that the sun is the center of the Universe and immovable, and that the Earth is not the center of the same and that it moves. That I was neither to hold, defend, nor teach in any manner whatsoever, either orally or in writing, the said false doctrine".

The Church has opposed every innovation and discovery from the day of Galileo down to our own time, when the use of anesthetics in childbirth was regarded as a sin because it avoided the biblical curse pronounced against Eve. And bigotry and superstition have opposed every step in astronomy and geology ever taken. The Greeks surpassed us in artistic culture and in architecture five hundred years before Christian religion was born noted Mark Twain.

It has always been fierce, cruel, bloodthirsty, vehement, devilish and notorious history while proving existing of science against religious superstitions. Till date we do not believe human as a simple living body and categorize under religious umbrella to avoid rain of love and peace.

According to Mohandas Gandhi" The most heinous and the cruelest crimes of which history has record have been committed under the cover of or equally noble motives."

Religion or believing structure defined by religious philosophy is nothing more than stories. Religion is not firm and keeps changing. I strongly believe that not believing god is rude and impossible for me. If I am born or for my existence nature is solely responsible. It is true to feel super natural power for all our existence but it is wrong to divide the divine.

Science or Religion?

Religion refers to any set of beliefs, values and practices that form a worldview. A worldview system will include beliefs about ultimate reality, epistemology, ontology, ethics, purpose, and so on. Everyone has a worldview, although many people have not explicitly formulated their worldview.

Science can be defined as the systematic study of the natural world. Such study is grounded in detailed experiments and observations of natural processes. These are then analyzed for patterns, regularities and laws. However, science involves much more than empirical observation and mathematical analysis.

"To believe in God or in a guiding force because someone tells you to is the height of stupidity. We are given senses to receive our information within. With our own eyes we see, and with our own skin we feel. With our intelligence, it is intended that we understand. But each person must puzzle it out for himself or herself" believes Burnham.

"Religion is root of fear and spreads violence. Fear of the mysterious, fear of defeat and fear of death. Fear is the parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand. It is because fear is at the basis of those two things. Science can help us to get over this craven fear in which man has lived for so many generations.

Science can teach us, and I think our own hearts can teach us, no longer to look around for imaginary supports, no longer to invent allies in the sky. But rather to look to our own efforts here below to make this world a better place to live in, instead of the sort of place that the churches in all these centuries have made it" as per quoted by Russell.

Anything too much becomes the poison. However there are strong believers and followers of religion. We have born under either religion umbrella. Our family teaches us since birth about god’s existence. Science is compilation of truth and our experiments or inventions.

Religious book is not always against human kind. I agree that what Jesus said about love and peace is enough to believe thou as God. Science has also been cause of destruction. Based on religious believes war occurs. What is then used? Science. We should not ignore reality and facts of horror created by science. To restrict growth of science religious concepts might have been written. Who knows?

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
