Actress Natasha Lyonne Cops a Plea
Actress Natasha Lyonne, of American Pie fame, pleaded guilty to drunk driving charges on Monday stemming from her DUI arrest in Miami Beach last year.
Reportedly, a plea bargain has been in the works for quite some time with a guarantee that Lyonne would not face jail time. The 23-year old actress will be on six months probation, is required to perform 50 hours of community service and will lose her license for her probation period. Her car will be impounded for 10 days, she is to pay fines and court fees of $1,000, replace the sign she damaged during the accident and will have to take part in a victim’s panel organized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Last August Lyonne was observed by police exceeding the speed limit at approximately 1:45 a.m. when she tried to make a 90-degree turn. She missed the turn, skidded off the road and over a curb before crashing into a sign and some shrubs. The actress then put her car in reverse, backed up and continued along her merry way. Police followed her and after smelling alcohol on her breath arrested her for DUI. The damage was approximately $2,500, but neither Lyonne or her passenger, actor Adam Goldberg, were injured. She reportedly explained to police that she was a "movie star" and asked if she could call her entertainment lawyer.
Seems there is never any shortage of young Hollywood pressing their luck with the law. Lyonne was supposedly observed earlier that night throwing a champagne glass into a crowded dance floor from a balcony above. Maybe she thinks she is exempt from the law because she is a "movie star." Lyonne, who has also appeared in The Slums of Beverly Hills, is set to grace the big screen again in Max and Grace opposite her ex-boyfriend Edward Furlong (another one who seems to press his luck with life). She just wrapped filming on Die Mommie Die opposite Jason Priestly, of Beverly Hills 90210 fame.
