From My Past

I can’t erase you from my past,
I can’t delete you from my mind,
I can’t pretend you were never here,
I can’t fake like it didn’t hurt when you broke my heart,
I can’t pretend that I don’t care,
I can’t pretend you are near,
But everyday I catch myself looking at you,
Just to have one more taste
Or another day that I could be back in your arms.
But is it wrong for me not be able to fall asleep
Because I’m afraid that I might think or dream of you,
Knowing I'll never get another chance,
So I guess I'll just pretend to say goodbye.
