What is Bluejacking?
Bluejacking means sending errant messages to other people via a bluetooth enabled device without your victim knowing who sent the message. With the introduction of bluetooth into mobile devices such as handphones, notebook computers or PDAs, it is now possible to 'bluejack someone'.

A bluetooth device works over a range of about 10 meters and phones or PDAs fitted with a bluetooth device can be used to search for other bluetooth enabled device in the vicinity. Once a connection is established, errant messages can be sent via the bluetooth to the other handsets.

You may ask why somebody would want to bluejack a stranger's phone? Well, the motive behind this new craze is to really scare or freak out other bluetooth users that one might encounter in public. For example, a bluejacker might check out other bluetooth users in a shopping mall and drop them messages that only someone in the same place will appreciate, for example, their choice of colour of their top or just a message to let them know that they've been bluejacked.

With the increased popularity of bluetooth devices, one can expect that this new craze is only just start or an new avenue for spamming has just started.
