Thirty bodies have so far been recovered from the wreckage of the plane, which came down near the city of Donetsk. There were 160 passengers and 10 crew members aboard.
The Tupolev Tu-154 jet - which had been flying from the Russian Black Sea resort of Anapa to St Petersburg - disappeared from radar screens after sending an SOS message.
Some reports said the plane had been experiencing "severe turbulence" before the crash. It was operated by Pulkovo airlines, based in St. Petersburg.
