Matt Leinart -- Heisman winner?

Last year Oklahoma QB Jason White won the Heisman. Who will win the trophy this year?
Jason White was probably the biggest Heisman letdown ever.

Many others did well, even after the Heisman competition had ended, but it seemed that all White wanted was the Heisman trophy, and after he got it, he quit.

However, we know that isn't true after a recent article in Sports Illustrated.

"You win that, everything in your life changes" White stated. "I don't expect to be the Heisman front-runner this year, and I don't care to be."

With White's statements you can believe it wasn't purposely he did so badly in the championship game and against KSU.

This year, White, according to SI, is "no better than third in most preseason Heisman lists."

Who is in front of him? Darren Sproles of KSU and Matt Leinart of USC.

Let's see the ups and downs of the top three players on the list this year.

Leinart. Leader, winner, achiever.

He is one of the smartest QB's in a long time, but can he keep wining though?

Of course, with a team like USC's, it would be harder to lose than to win.

Leinart can always finish the tough plays and lead big drives.

He is definitely Heisman material.

Let's just say I have 10 votes for the Heisman, and I give him all 10 first place votes.

Sproles is a short HB, but despite his size he is one fast little guy.

Last year he was a finalist, and if he does well this season don't be surprised to see him win it either.

He rushed for 1,986 yards last season to lead the whole nation, and although he is better, he might not do as well.

Why? QB Ell Roberson is gone, so now unless a new QB with a good arm comes up he will be the target of all defenses.

White has been bugged with injury all of his college career.

In fact, that is one of the reasons he did so badly in both championship games in '03.

This year he is reported to be very healthy and better than he was at the start of last year.

What can you expect from him?

Everything. Although it isn't predicted that he should win the trophy, he needs to.

He needs to earn his name again.

He needs to prove he can be the great quarterback he once was.

He needs to be 40+ touchdown material again.

It is essential that he wins.
