Athletics: Jones Wants Quick B Test
Marion Jones has expressed her surprise at testing positive for drugs and called for the testing of her second sample to be dealt with quickly.
Marion Jones has broken her silence over her drug test to say that she was shocked her sample taken in June was positive.
The three-time 2000 Olympic gold medallist added that she had requested the testing of her second B sample be dealt with quickly.
"I was shocked when I was informed about the positive A sample," Jones said in a statement. "I have requested that the testing of my B sample be expedited and done as soon as possible. I will have no further comment until the results of the B sample are released."
USA Track and Field has set up a task force to investigate doping after the positive tests involving Jones and the world and Olympic 100m champion Justin Gatlin.
It is expected to investigate ways to deter athletes from using banned substances and to establish procedures that will allow the removal of coaches, medical personnel and managers suspected of doping athletes.
