The Bill Clinton Show?
Rumors are again surfacing that Bill Clinton is being courted by the major networks to host his own talk show.
Recently, reports have surfaced that suggest that Bill Clinton is in talks with CBS to become the host of a talk show on the network. Clearly, Bill Clinton would be at least an initial draw were he to embark on a career as a talk show host. The former president was a media darling and was always fun material for tabloids and "legitimate" media outlets alike. Even outside of his tumultuous final two years in office, Bill always had a way of capturing the imagination of the country.
Neither CBS nor Clinton's representatives would confirm Wednesday that they are discussing a talk show, although the president's lawyer, Robert Barnett, said Clinton has received an ``enormous number of offers'' from media outlets. With the rumors that constantly surrounded the Clinton presidency, the current climate is surely familiar to Bill and his advisors. There is no word yet on whether the show would be political in nature or if it would take on more of a variety spin. Either way, Clinton has the tools to make it work.
Bill was almost always in control when the cameras were on and was especially at ease in the spotlight. Clinton’s interaction with current political players and/or entertainers would almost certainly make for great television. "Colin Powell and P. Diddy headline the Bill Clinton show tonight." It’s basically a "can’t miss" concept. Add to the normal media coverage that fact that Bill is one of America’s favorite tabloid subjects, and you’ve got something bigger than The Osbournes and Survivor combined.
