Sizemore Faces Jail Time
Actor Tom Sizemore was convicted of physically abusing former fiancée Heidi Fleiss and faces four years in prison.
Sizemore was convicted of seven of sixteen counts against him. Jurors deliberated for three days before returning the verdict. He was found guilty of one count each of domestic violence, criminal threats, and vandalism. Sizemore was also convicted of four counts of making obscene and harassing telephone calls. The actor faces up to four years in jail, plus fines. He is scheduled for sentencing on October 2, and remains free on $100,000 bail.
Fleiss tearfully reported that Sizemore "socked her, choked her, dragged her by the hair, smashed her collection of figurines with a baseball bat and left more than 100 bullying messages on her answering machine." She said she loved him, but went to the police after he allegedly threatened her brother. The two were supposedly headed for wedded bliss after two years of dating, but Fleiss called it off when she learned he was cheating on her with prostitutes. How ironic! The actor is no stranger to anger management problems. He was arrested in 1997 on felony spousal abuse charges after arguing with his then wife, Maeve Quinlan, and is currently facing charges that he hit an unidentified woman in the face last December.
Sizemore doesn’t seem to get the severity of the charges and stated he looked forward to putting "this behind me now and [doing] what I’ve always loved doing, making movies." Then again, he seems not to have had a problem getting work. Even though his new show Robbery Homicide Division was canceled midseason – shortly after his arrest – he has at least four movies in the "can" or on the way to theaters. Celebrities may not be above the law…but it probably won’t stop them from working in Hollywood…
