Hudson’s rep, Brad Cafarelli, has confirmed the split. He said, "Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson have confirmed that they are separated." There has been no official word from Robinson’s camp. The two tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Aspen on December 31, 2000. Hudson was 21 at the time and the Black Crowes frontman was 34. The couple met at a party in New York City in May 2000. She said in an interview in 2003, "We were telling each other we loved each other by the fourth day. I moved in within a week. I think no matter what, when you and the person you’re supposed to be with find each other, you can’t do anything wrong."
They welcomed their only child, son Ryder Russell, in January 2004. A mere seven months later, Hudson and Robinson were forced to defend their love after Star magazine published a story asking whether or not their marriage was on the rocks. At the time, Hudson said, "We are very, very happy. There are a million wonderful things I could say about my husband. Those rumors are not true, not true, not true." A family friend came to their defense after the rumors started that they were having problems. Said the friend, "They are not going anywhere. When you are true friends with your mate, (your relationship) will withstand everything."
Hudson recently has changed her views on marriage. Just last summer she said she didn’t think monogamous relationships were "realistic." She also said, "I don’t like the idea of the perfect marriage." She went on to say, "People can be in love madly and deeply and go through so much and still end up together. That’s what you hope for." There has been no official reason given for the split and no word, yet, on whether or not the couple will proceed with a divorce. Who knows? Maybe they just need a break!
