Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley Quietly Tie Knot

In the past several weeks, Hollywood marriages, break-ups, and budding romances have been headline news. Wait, that’s every week. OK, so there have been a few more noisemakers in the last several weeks than normal, with Julia Roberts getting married and Jennifer Lopez hopping from former new husband Chris Judd to present beau Ben Affleck. There have been others, but I’m trying to make a point here.

The point is that Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie seemed to have escaped the media onslaught that accompanies most of these affairs. I guess it’s explained easily enough, with Cage being 38 and Lisa Marie 34 - both with children - they have never been major players on the Hollywood scene. As a result, they were able to escape to Hawaii to enjoy a seemingly legitimate union amidst family and friends.

Sure, there were paparazzi in the area. And, of course, there’ll be some media face time, with pictures of the new couple going to the grocery store or whatever newsworthy activities they can muster. But, it still seems that this one just flew under the radar of the normally insatiable entertainment media. Already, this is going to be a forgotten story, just a few days after it happened. I doubt anyone’s happier about that than Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley.
