Nolenia

Four teenagers are stuck on a beach on an island in the middle of the ocean. They are castaways on an island. Not just any island. Nolenia!!
Four Teenagers sat on a sandy beach 1,000 Miles south of Hawaii. They had just been through a tough time.

Arisis (Air-A-Sis) was a middle class teenage girl, about sixteen, with red hair. She always was looking for someone special, a soul mate. Her mother decided to invite her and her friends to fly across the ocean. She didn’t want to go, but came anyway. Now they had just crashed and she stood next to Zack and her mother.
Zack was also 16, had blonde hair and was never very popular for very long. He was lonely and scared. He always had feminine hobbies. He liked cooking, horticulture and knitting. The other kids teased him and hurt him for that. He thought they were fun classes although his only friends were Arisis and her 2 friends.
Sam was a black-haired girl about 14. She met Arisis in middle school and was a close friend. Sam tried everything; she never turned something down unless she knew she didn’t like it for sure. She liked to be unique in every; way music, food, clothes and even jewelry. She connected Arisis and Zack to John
John was also of 14 he was lonely most of the time, but Sam spent time with and became his best friend. John was not very special. He wasn’t strong, or extremely smart. But he was kind.

They stood up there, on the beach, when they heard a ROAR!! They looked and saw the foliage move. Arisis’ mother and father split when a dark green figure ripped through. Arisis screamed.
"What was that?" asked John.
"I don’t know, but I don’t really want to stick around to find out!" replied Zack in great fear.
It was a twenty-foot long creature with slimy green skin sparkling in the sun. Its mouth was filled with sharp, long, shimmering teeth. Then it came and grabbed Arisis’ father by his leg, dragged him across the beach, and pulled him into a freshwater stream under water. Arisis screamed, again.
"What was that?" yelled Zack.
John thought "It was a crocodile, what else could it be! It was green and slimy," he paused "slimy, not scaly." His science lessons paid off.
"It is an amphibian" John said.
"What?" said Zack "An amphibian, come on you know that salamanders don’t grow that big."
"They do here" said John.
"Are you sure?" Sam said.
"The monster had slimy skin, reptiles have scaly skin" John replied. ROAR.

After that they ran for their lives. Then an hour later they built a camp up on a hill. The land was covered in vast forests of bamboo. To the north there was miles of brush.

They stopped on the hillside and talked about their situation for a moment. Then they discussed their situation. In the end they decided to go inland. They brought guns from the plane. Apparently the pilot was afraid of terrorism.

They went through thick jungles of lush bamboos 400 feet high. Limited amounts of trees flushed colorful fruit. The birds sang and colorful images played in the minds of the children, but the tranquilness was broken quickly.

Zack said "I think I am getting the hang of this." Then a five pound wasp knocked him senseless. The wasp went higher and began to charge. The shooting of guns killed it. Arisis moved to heal Zack.
She seemed happy to see him alive and she took the time to get him up and they ran.
"Thanks a lot." Zack said as they ran.
"What are friends for?" Arisis replied

They fought giant insects, snakes, amphibians for an hour. Exhausted, they came up to some brush and as they walked further they realized it was getting dryer. I know it all is really going fast, but that is how it felt like being dumped in hell and forced to head to nowhere.
"Stop!" John said.
Everyone looked at him and said "What?"
"What is the point of being here if we have no idea where we are or what were up against? The minute I set foot here I ran. Have you not noticed that in the 2 hours we have been here, we have gone from forests to open forest, to shrub, to open shrub?" John said.
"The rain levels drop as we go further inland" Zack said.
"Yes but look around you. Have you not noticed that the bamboos and shrubs are the dominant plants? Here there are enlarged forms of grass." John said.
Then a large cat-like creature pounced on Zack. They shot it and it died. That’s about how quickly it happened. Zack held his index finger up to signal that he wanted quiet. They sat there for fifteen minutes.
In that time Zack came out and said "That is an over-grown Weasel. I checked the eye socket, the molars and the fangs. It was a typical mustalid. That is the group that includes Weasels, Badgers, Skunks and Otters."
"Do you think there are others?" Sam said.
"Definitely," Zack replied "Just look over there"
They saw that a large weasel-like creature was hunting a herd of buffalo like creatures.
John looked under the tree and said "I found a skull."
Zack examined it like a college professor he said, "Rodent."
"The teeth have the typical incisors." Arisis said.
"Why on earth are they so big here?" Sam inquired.
Zack said "Lack of competition from other animals is the reason perhaps."
John pieced it together "I think the large Weasels have taken the place of the big cats and dogs and the rodents are taking the place of everything else including the herbivores. Look down there! See those herds of cattle, I bet my soul that they are in fact rodents. To show I can prove it from right here, I see that there are claws on their feet instead of hooves, and the lumps on the face are cheek pouches. There are no horns so it must be a giant Rat or Squirrel" John said with grace
Sam smiled and seemed happy. "You’re smarter than the biology tests give you credit for" she told him.
He said "Well you’re not a dummy either are you?" they blushed for two seconds and then they realized John was right. They looked for miles and saw grassland and brush covered in vast herds of beautiful and bizarre rodent forms.
As they continued they found an old computer on the prairie.
Arisis said "This Island must be inhabited." Zack looked at the computer and recalled a GPS map of the Island and information on a city only a mile away. He typed in "find city" then an online internet for the whole island with the map in the right corner apeared. Grass forests covered the edge of the island. Inland brush gave way to a massive grass pan only broken by rivers and plateaus. He looked at the city info.

Zack told everyone the startling news when a massive figure appeared. It was a 30-foot long black dog like-creature. Yes, it was another giant Weasel, the biggest Weasel and monster mustalid. Standing 120 feet away from them they cowered in fear, raised their guns and the creature bolted like a semi truck forward. It’s huge head glistening with razor sharp teeth. pclose for comfort, a large dart pierced the skin putting it to sleep.

A tired young man with a cane and a scrawny beat-up appearance came forth and said "Oi’, that was a nasty load of grease. Good thing I had a nice sharp tranquilizer. Awe, I see you have found my computer my fine four lucky little lizards."

He came and shook their hands silly.
"Who are you?" John Asked
"I am Nedla C Kin the game preserver of all of Nolenias diverse grueling job but defiantly entertaining. Oh and now lets get you to the city and get ya all cleaned up. Better hurry before grumpy wakes up.

"So how did….." Sam started

"All questions must be submitted in writing." Nedla said.
"WHAT!" Sam exclaimed.
"Sorry, I like to play jokes with the new comers, continue." Nedla replied.
Sam finished "Where did you come from?"
Nedla coughed and said. "That and all other questions shall be answered in a moment."
