Paris, Travel: Three Reasons to Travel to Paris, France in October
October is a perfect time to visit Paris. The locals are relaxed after the onslaught of summer tourists, the crisp daily temperature in the mid-sixties is ideal for exploring outdoor markets and cobble-stoned streets, and the range of colors on display in Paris' many parks and gardens is breathtaking. Not convinced? Read on for three more reasons to schedule a vacation to Paris in October.

1. The Off-Season - Airfare is hundreds of dollars less than fares in the summer, and hotel rates are reasonable. Dislike standing in long lines to ascend the Eiffel Tower or to spy the Mona Lisa in the Louvre, visit Paris in October. The lines are short to non-existent, giving you more time to enjoy Paris' many attractions. Heard stories of rude waiters and hotel staff? Not in October - you'll be pleasantly greeted by workers who are not overwhelmed by catering to the needs of thousands of summer tourists.

2. La Nuit Blanche - On the first Saturday in October, watch Paris transform itself into a city that never sleeps. La Nuit Blanche or "Sleepless Night" is an all-night multimedia art festival. Sponsored by the City of Paris, all activities and public transportation from dusk to dawn is free. In the mood to visit an art museum at 3:00am, dance outside in an ancient square to techno music, or watch movies projected on the sides of famous landmarks, plan to be in Paris on October 7th, 2006.

3. Salon Du Chocolat - In time for Halloween, Paris hosts the ultimate chocolate experience, the Salon du Chocolat. Chocoholics can feast on an array of samples from the world's premiere chocolatiers, and attend an edible Parisian fashion show where the models are decked out in couture designs made entirely of chocolate. The Salon du Chocolat is October 28th – November 1st, 2006, and the entrance fee is €10, €5 for kids 3-12 years old.
