Actor Mel Gibson has reportedly entered an undisclosed rehabilitation facility following his arrest for driving under the influence on Friday.

Gibson was arrested at approximately 2:36 a.m. after officers spotted him driving at an "excessively fast speed" on the Pacific Coast Highway on Friday. It was reported that a bottle of tequila was found in his car and he allegedly failed a sobriety test. Gibson reportedly went off on the Jewish community and his "profanity-laced" tirade was directed at the the "f-ing Jews" and the fact that they "are responsible for all the wars in the world."

As news of his anti-Semitic rant spread Gibson has been labeled a "bigot" and an "anti-Semite." His publicist, Alan Nierob, confirmed that the actor-director had checked himself into rehab. After his arrest Gibson was released on $5,000 bail and is slated to appear in court on September 28. Gibson has released a statement that read, "There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer on the night I was arrested on a DUI charge."

He has also said, "I am reaching out to the Jewish community. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable. But I pray that that door is not forever closed." As for his upcoming projects, ABC has pulled a mini-series about a Jewish woman during World War II who is in Nazi-occupied Holland, which was to be backed by Gibson. ABC claims that the reason they are pulling the plug on the mini-series is because they haven’t yet received a script…seems kind of funny that this comes out after Gibson saw the inside of a bottle or two of tequila. As for his movie Apocalypto, sources say that it is still on track for a December release.
