A possible moneymaker... Hopefully!
The San Diego Padres recently traded left-handed relief specialist Jesse Orosco to the New York Yankees in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. It is a trade that could make the Padres happy... someday.
On Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2003, the San Diego Padres traded left-handed relief specialist Jesse Orosco to the New York Yankees in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
This season, Orosco was 1-for-1 in 42 appearances with a 7.56 ERA, along with 21 earned runs and 25 innings pitched.
On May 9, Orosco made his 1,200th career appearance, and so far this season, he's held left-handed batters to a .228 batting average.
At 46 years old, he holds the record for games played with 1,229, and games pitched in relief with 1,225. All told, he's played 24 seasons with the Mets, Dodgers, Indians, Brewers, Orioles, Cardinals, Padres, and now the Yankees.
His overall record now stands at 86 wins, 79 losses, 144 saves and a 3.13 ERA.
With those stats, Orosco has made quite a name for himself over his long tenure in Major League Baseball, and now that he's with the Yankees, New York should be better than ever.
For Padres' fan, well, all we can do is wait and wonder what will happen next for us.
Hopefully, something awe-inspiring!
