From The Osbournes to The Anna Nicole Show

Celeb-reality TV seems to be on a rocket ship into outer space these days after the cult-like success of The Osbournes.
The latest attempt at riding this latest TV craze comes in the form of "The Anna Nicole Show," which is basically a show that follows Anna Nicole Smith around all day to find out what is going on in her life. Is there really a huge market out there to see what this overblown Jayne Mansfield wanna-be, allegedly drug addicted, richly widowed, ex-Wal Mart cashier does on a daily basis? The show, which premiers on E! on August 4th at 10 p.m., is being marketed as "a candid and compelling look at the life and spectacle" of Anna Nicole Smith.

The buxom blonde said in a statement, "I can’t wait. People won’t be able to stop watching once they tune in. My life is a roller coaster, so hold on and enjoy the ride!" The show is said to feature Smith and those closest to her, including her son, Daniel. With the amount of money she recently inherited there is bound to be many important shopping sprees and fancy lunches. E! President and CEO Mindy Herman likened Smith to a modern day version of Marlo Thomas in That Girl and Mary Tyler Moore in the sense that she is finding her way in the big city. Herman said, "Unlike Mary Tyler Moore, however, Anna Nicole will throw caution – not her hat – to the wind and have a lot more fun along the way." Hmm…wonder what else she may throw to the wind…

The former plus-size Guess model was recently awarded $88 million in the legal battle over the estate of her late husband, J. Howard Marshall II. Smith, a ninth-grade drop-out, met billionaire Marshall in 1991 while she was a dancer in a Houston strip club. The unlikely couple wed in 1994 when she was 26 and he 89. Marshall passed away 14 months later and Smith has been battling in court ever since. The judge awarded her the sum in March, but denied her request for $30 million more in interest in April.
