Liza Minelli and David Gest: Not Another Celeb-Reality TV Show
Liza Minelli and new hubby David Gest have signed on with VH-1 to do yet another celebrity reality TV show.
This show will air in October and will feature Minelli and Gest throwing "intimate" dinner parties at their Manhattan penthouse. The show will not be like Meet the Osbournes, according to Liza. The camera will not be on 24 hours a day and the show will only feature the dinner parties and will be limited to certain areas of the house. The show will reportedly feature "celebrity guests dining, drinking, and offering supposedly impromptu music performances in the Gests' living room."
Minelli, 56, and Gest, 48, met last September at a tribute concert of Michael Jackson’s, which Gest produced and Minelli appeared in. The happy couple were married in March in an outrageous ceremony where Jackson stood in as Gest’s best man. Does anyone else think Gest bears a striking resemblance to Jackson? Maybe they share the same plastic surgeon…because it is quite obvious they share the same nose. And what is up with Minelli? Wasn’t her first husband gay? Gest’s sexuality may be up for questioning.
Reality television has gotten out of control with the Survivors and the Big Brothers. Add the newer ones such as Meet the Folks and on top of that you have already famous celebrities inviting the public into their homes. Minelli & Gest join the likes of the super- sized Anna Nicole Smith, whose television series - The Anna Nicole Show - debuts on August 4, and those "f’n" Osbournes, who have seemed to materialize everywhere! The Osbournes has a soundtrack, dolls and will be appearing on DVD and VHS. Given time, will we be seeing Anna Nicole dolls along the shelves with Liza and Gest? When is enough enough?
