The latest edition of WWE Raw was a step in the right direction. However, even though it was a good show, they are still ways they can improve.
In my first two articles, I've talked about what the WWE has done wrong.
Now, after several throwaway shows, the latest edition of Raw was a step in the right direction. Raw and Smackdown competing is something that should have been done when the roster split first came into effect.
But, there are several ways the WWE can still improve.
The main event for Summerslam is Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock. If this is to be successful, they have to give this match a proper build-up.
The little stare down the two had at the end was a good way to start things up. They need the two to cut interviews on each other, interfere in each other's matches, and have a stare down before the final match. They have to make sure the two don't wrestle before the pay-per-view event.
Previously, the WWE has put the guys who are in the top feud in a tag team match. That has to be avoided at all costs, so that the match at Summerslam will be more special because it would be the first real bout between the two.
If Lesnar does win the title, which is highly likely to happen, he needs to defeat The Rock cleanly. He can't win by help from Paul Heyman. He can't win by DQ. He can't win by countout. He has to defeat The Rock with a clean 1, 2, 3.
Then you can have Brock Lesnar hold the title until Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania of next year.
Credibility needs to be brought back to the WWE Undisputed title, and a long term Brock Lesnar title run can do that. Lesnar needs to be in quality feuds, and winning in a decisive fashion. Then, once a serious competitor comes along, such as Kurt Angle or Chris Jericho, they can have a feud similar to Steve Austin and The Rock in 2001.
It's been said quite a few times already, but they need to develop a plan and stick to it. They need to figure out the matches they want on Wrestlemania 19, and plan backwards. They have to realize that they can't draw a lot of money in August, but they'll be able to once Wrestlemania comes along.
Quality matches are being given away on free TV in hopes of increasing the TV ratings, but those same matches can draw lots of money in the future if given time and effort.
To develop your future main eventers, you first need to develop your mid-carders. The mid-carders are the people who are going to carry the company in the future.
The Undertaker won't be around for much longer, so he needs to put over as many mid-carders as possible.
The WWE needs to be careful and they have to make sure they protect all of their mid-carders by not booking them as losers.
If the WWE develops a long term plan, they can climb back from their downfall.
