On a frustrating day at Wimbledon so far, Jennifer Capriati and Amelie Mauresmo have been able to play just 22 minutes of their women's singles quarter-final because of rain.
After persistent showers delayed the start of play for almost four hours, Jennifer Capriati and Amelie Mauresmo managed six games - with Mauresmo, the ninth seed, breaking to lead 5-2 in the first set.
Capriati lost her concentration when she served in the sixth game in spitting rain, double-faulting twice in succession to give Mauresmo the first break.
But, after rain had delayed the start of the match for around four hours until 4pm, the umpire was forced to bow to the inevitable and the players were taken off due to the weather.
Over on court one, second seed Serena Williams and Daniela Hantuchova barely managed to get into their stride when play was called off after only two minutes of play with the American leading 1-0.
The outlook for the rest of the day is for more rain, but forecasters said better weather was expected on tomorrow.
Because of the backlog of matches, it was also announced that play tomorrow would begin on centre court, court one and court two at noon, and on all other courts at 11am.
