British Airway officials declined to allow Hasselhoff to board the flight bound for Los Angeles after the actor was deemed unfit to fly. He was reportedly in London filming a commercial and was at the first-class airport lounge at 7 a.m. awaiting his flight. According to eyewitnesses Hasselhoff was mumbling incoherently and had trouble standing. One witness over heard him mumble, "My life is a mess." He also reportedly came on to a shop clerk. Hasselhoff had to wait in the waiting area for two hours where his demeanor was "reassessed by staff" and he was ruled fit to fly.
The incident happened to occur on the same day that his divorce to actress Pamela Bach was finalized. Hasselhoff has a history of alcohol abuse and has been in an out of rehab over the past few years. He claims he is clean and sober now and has denied that his behavior in London had anything to do with him drinking. Hasselhoff’s publicist, Judy Katz, said in a statement, "Due to a new medication prescribed by his doctor in London on Tuesday, for an infection in his injured hand, Mr. Hasselhoff became ill at Heathrow Airport and requested to be put on a later flight to Los Angeles." The injury that Katz is referring to occurred last month when the Hoff had emergency surgery after he sliced four tendons and an artery in his hand in a freak shaving accident.
Earlier this month it was reported that Hasselhoff was asked to leave Wimbledon and to not return because, according to reports, he was "steaming drunk." He reportedly yelled to the staff, You should let me in. Do you know who I am? I’m the Hoff!" "The Hoff’s" camp has denied the stories. He is currently hosting America’s Got Talent, is reportedly writing his memoirs, and is working on his very own show called Travels with the Hoff.
