USA women earn second win over Dominican Republic
The USA Women's National A2 Volleyball Team captured their second victory against the Dominican Republic A2 Volleyball Team Wednesday night in their fourth match of the Dominican Republic Tour. Here's the story.
The USA Women's National A2 Volleyball Team captured their second victory against the Dominican Republic A2 Volleyball Team Wednesday night in their fourth match of the Dominican Republic Tour. Team USA defeated the Dominican Republic three games to zero, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16.
Starters for Team USA were Brittany Hochevar (Fowler, Colorado/ Long Beach State University at setter, Kathleen Olsovsky (Torrance, California/University of Southern California) opposite, Jennifer Joines (Milpitas, California/University of the Pacific) middle blocker, Elisha Thomas (Sacramento, California/Long Beach State University) middle blocker, Tayyiba Haneef (Laguna Hills, California/Long Beach State University) outside hitter, Sheila Lopez (San Juan, Puerto Rico), outside hitter, and Heidi Ilustre (Carson, California/California State Northridge) at libero.
Team USA was led by the unstoppable Tayyiba Haneef, who played a great match in both the front and back cours. She led the team with 12 kills. Middle blockers Jennifer and Joines and Elisha Thomas played superb with ten and seven blocks, respectively.
The USA Women's National A2 Volleyball Team now has a record of 2-2 in their tour of the Dominican Republic against the Dominican Republic A2 Team. Team USA opened the tour with a four-set victory, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13.
