Animal Planet’s ‘Pet Star’ Seeks New Talent
by ANC Staff
"Pet Star", a weekly "Animal Planet" cable television talent show featuring animals who perform tricks for cash prizes, recently issued an open audition call for animals to take part in its second season.
Auditions will take place on stage, in front of a live audience. During the audition, animals’ performances will be taped for possible inclusion in a later broadcast. Animals who pass the audition will be flown by "Pet Star" to Los Angeles, along with their owners, to take part in a "Pet Star" show, hosted by Mario Lopez.
The organizers of the show, which airs Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET., say they are searching for animals with "amazing, hilarious, brilliant, and adorable talents." Past shows have featured rats that play basketball, a flag-raising groundhog, roller-skating birds and a "butt-surfing dog".
Auditions are being held between July 19 and October 26 in the following U.S. cities: Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Orlando, FL; Somerset, New Jersey; and San Francisco, CA.
"Pet Star" also accepts home-made video-recordings of animals’ tricks as an alternative way of auditioning for the show. VHS tapes can be mailed to "Pet Star" at P.O. Box 2900, Toluca Lake, CA 91610.
More information can be obtained by calling the "Pet Star" hotline: (323) 463 5040, or emailing the show’s organizers at: auditions@BradLachmanProds.com.
