Rangers lose to Orioles
The Texas Rangers battled it out against the Baltimore Orioles, and lost 12-6 in Baltimore on Tuesday evening.
Fighting for air, the Rangers' lost to the Baltimore Orioles 12-6, Tuesday night in Baltimore.
What started out to be a close game between the two teams, turned out to be a hitting match for Alex Rodriguez in his own standing.
Rodriguez snapped out of his 4-30 slump with four singles, after getting some last minute advice from Buck Showalter on the way to Baltimore.
Another surprising turnout was John Thomson's streak of three straight winning decisions being neutralized by the birds.
Thomson (7-10), could not make it out of the fourth inning, after starting in four previous starts all the way to the seventh inning in each.
The Rangers finished their road trip 2-4 with three straight losses.
At the top of the third, the Orioles took a 2-0 lead in the first from Thomson. Michael Young was accused of throwing an error; which advanced B.J. Surhoff and Luis Matos.
Young swung at a wild ball and created a two-RBI hit, with Hank Blalock making a run.
Suddenly, at the top of the sixth the stadium remained quiet as they see Blalocks' ball soaring over the stadium and into the walkway. Then the stadium roared with excitement. Blalock became the 31st person in the history of Camden Yards to make to the walkway, along with being his 15th homer of the season.
Rodriguez proved himself again at the bottom of the eighth. Stealing second, and running for home, on an error by the first baseman.
The Rangers finished the game when Einar Diaz hit a homer to left field.
